our story

In 2019, Sarah Lofti, a working mom at the UN, saw the formation of Career Steps Geneva as a support network for new mothers to exchange ideas, job opportunities, and tips as they embarked on their journey back to employment. In 2020, during the first Covid pandemic, the community grew quickly and saw a collaborative exchange of intelligence across a multitude of areas, including information on Geneva-based employers, shared experiences of the hiring process in Switzerland, and tips for preparing for interviews.

Beginning as a small WhatsApp group, Career Steps has matured into an online and in-person event support network, empowering women to hone and develop their skills, seek new careers, and navigate work-life balance.

Career Steps Geneva envisions a society where employers willingly accept and recognise that women want careers balanced with family life. We believe that working mothers are influential contributors and assets within the workforce and that employers will benefit by creating fair and flexible work structures to facilitate enhanced performance.

our
vision

our
mission

Our goal is to foster work environments that embrace women at all stages of their career development while focusing primarily on the needs of women transitioning back into work and working mums and their families. We want to construct a platform that advocates for change, creates opportunities for women to have a work-family balance, and promotes talented mums who wish to rejoin the workforce on fair terms.
